Halo 3 was such a huge release, news of it even filtered into the corners of the media that don't cover videogames at all. Just about every major paper had a story that boiled down to "OMG! Halo 3 was released!"
A few moments of mainstream Halo-notice struck us as very, very funny.
First, talking heads on CNBC characterizing all Halo 3 players as "geeks". Then, on the intentionally funny side, last night's Daily Show, featured Lewis Black (you know the complain-y, yell-y guy?) showing clips of a Wal-Mart/Halo 3 adver-program and asking: "Just one question: What the hell is Halo 3?".
On the unintentionally funny side: The following explanation of the game from Information Week:
"Halo 3 is a so-called first person shooter featuring Master Chief, a biologically enhanced super-soldier who has to blast his way through a futuristic, 3-D landscape to survive and accomplish missions. He's countered at every turn by a shadowy terrorist group called The Covenant. "
Ha-Ha! Nub!
