Microsoft recently closed FASA Studios, which created MechWarrior 4 and Shadowrun. However, they have given a mod team permission to use assets and property from the BattleTech universe.
This is awesome, because usually mod teams get shut down by property owners who don't want independent developers using the licensed content.
The mod is called MechWarrior: Living Legends and is currently planned for release as a mod for Crysis.
Kudos to Microsoft for letting a team of fans utilize assets that they aren't going to.

when I finally broke down, and decided to leave PC gaming behind, I bought a Xbox, and the two Mechassualt games. Not quiet what I was expecting from a Mechwarrior game, but good none the less.
Now, it is looking that if I want to get some Mechwarrior love, I need to scrap console gaming, and buy a PC....
I wonder what it would take to get some of those full size Battletech Simulators.......
Anyways... Anything Mechwarrior is a gold star in my book.....
What's scary is this is the exact same thing for me. When we 1st got our computer this was the 1st game i got.
