Launch the alert fighters, we’ve got BSG Season 4 news!
About a week ago, we reported that Sci-Fi Channel was pondering parting the final season of BSG into two 10-episode mini-seasons, placing as much as a year between the two series arcs.
A few months ago, we reported that the Caprica prequel-series had been cut back from a series to a mini-series to a 2-hour television Movie. Well, after those two stories seemed to be the way of all things Battlestar, along comes the shows executive producer and mastermind, Ronald D. Moore who claims there may be more to it than meets the eye.
In speaking with TV Week, Moore claims that it may be better to air all 20 at once to keep the fans happy. Moore went on to point out that splitting the season into 10-episode segments would especially aggravate fans when they see the final moments of episode 10.
Other rumors coming in from Sci-Fi is that the channel is pondering using the 2-hour Caprica movie as a backdoor pilot. If it does well enough, we may indeed be seeing a full series out of the project after all. The series would reportedly be more character/less action than the current BSG series.
Sounds like Family with some robots and political commentary thrown in for good measure.
Okay, now for the bad news. The new target date for BSG Season 3 hitting store shelves on DVD is Spring 2008.
That’s right. Spring. 2008... Yes. Next Year... It’s true. The DVD for Season 3 will not be appearing until at least after episode 10 of Season 4.
