Andrzej Bartkowiak, the cinematographer from Speed, and the director of Romeo Must Die, will direct a new version of Street Fighter, based on the ancient coin-operated videogame. The film will be produced by Capcom, and this will be their second attempt to make a film based on the franchise, the first, starring Jean Claude Van Damme, only made about $33 million.
The script was written by Justin Marks, who just finished a script for a live-action Voltron film. There's no word on when the film might be made, but production should be starting in the not-too-distant future. We can't imagine that this will be anything but straight-to-video fodder, but you never know.
