Microsoft Bans 23K XBL Users for 24 Hours

Posted by Brian Leahy - Thursday, September 06, 2007 10:15 AM

Did you get into the Call of Duty 4 beta? Did you get in by having a buddy exploit a glitch that allowed people who did not receive keys from Infinity Ward to download the beta?

If so, BANNED!!! You are now banned forever for a day. Wait, that's not so bad, but let this be a lesson to you! Don't glitch the system.

Hit the cut for Microsoft's statement on the matter and some beta gameplay that should hold you over while you take a 24 "break" from Live.

Microsoft had this to say:

"The current POR is to issue a 24-hour console lockout that will prevent these 23k users from using their consoles to sign in to LIVE. These users will also receive a message in the dash with an explanation as to why their console has been locked out for 24 hours for violating the LIVE TOU [Terms of Use] and a warning that more severe actions may be taken if they attempt a similar action in the future (console could be banned permanently, etc.)."

Now enjoy some footage of the beta you aren't playing.

Seves them right...They should of suffered through the crashy web site like the rest of us did...Or they should of made the beta downloadable through LIVE without a key. Ah well...

I'm glad

I wonder if Micro$ is going to refund them the cost of a day's service?

That would be a nice class-action lawsuit.

Posted by bleahy - Thursday, September 06, 2007 10:57 AM
You guys should actually read those really long Terms of Service agreements when you sign up for things like Xbox Live.

They are perfectly within their rights to do this because of those agreements that everyone accepts without reading them.

It is no doubt really dumb for them to ban them from a pay service... but it was stated their EULA that users are not to exploit the game for personal or financial gain. I guess this would count as personal. :(

Haha what I bunch of losers. I was invited into the beta. :)

Posted by Crapsh00t - Thursday, September 06, 2007 11:44 AM
How hard was it to get into the second day lottery? All you had to do was sign up and WHAMMO! legit beta ticket there for you within 72 hours. And the majority of us pay for a service like this so that the glitchers and hackers will be dealt with properly... perhaps they should have been rewarded with a lifetime ban from Call of Duty 4 MP when it is released. :) :) :)

You Guys are aware that this is a form of cheating right? You got in by taking an illegal route, AKA cheating the system. It's not hard to wait a day or two for a multiplayer beta that you'll be playing exponentially. paying for online service or not, they're doing the right thing.

Posted by BrotherBrakk - Thursday, September 06, 2007 12:25 PM
It serves them right to be banned. Why not just go through and enter the lottery like a normal person? Its not that hard. I was a member on their site for a month and i got to get an early invite to the beta :)

Is this game really that good? Honestly?

Posted by GreenQuadrant - Thursday, September 06, 2007 1:25 PM
They had it coming. Thanks, Microsoft for banning the lifeless scums off of Live. I frickin' hate glitchers.

Posted by Metal_Madman - Thursday, September 06, 2007 1:26 PM
Well that sucks for them, but seeing as how everyone else that's dying to play this game has to wait for the actual release, than it serves them right.

honestly i think there should also be action taken against ppl from other countries who have gotten into a US ONLY (for now) beta. I have no problems with playin against ppl from others countries, but wait your turn like everyone else. I mean sh*t since they did it does it make it right if i get a token when its their turn and then sell it on ebay. NO, I dont think so!

Dudes. . . There's always a way to "Break the rules". As long as there is a way, there will be people exploiting it.

Most Game Geeks can find a way to play Call Of Duty no matter what. As long as there's a way, there's a will.

And if your smart enough, you can "Hack" in it.

There will always be those people with the intelligence to "Beat The System" or whatever.

Posted by Logrus - Thursday, September 06, 2007 6:46 PM
The funnier part of this whole story is the amount of beta that was played to get a 24 hour ban. 2 guys I know that got banned played beta out of their nose for almost a week. 10 hours a day in beta times 7 days minus 24hours equals Hahahahahahhaa Ms failed.

Its sad we agreed to behave on CoD. But I don't remember agreeing to have a faulty 360 either. Ms f'ed poeple in the butt, The people will do it right back. All far in love and Call of Duty!!

Posted by sps73 - Thursday, September 06, 2007 8:36 PM
Man i registered for the beta and did not recieve a token. If i new someone who knew how to exploit the glitch i would have done it! Did anyone else who registered not recieve there token,if so let me know!

excuse the grammer!

lmao suckers...i freakin hate when ppl glitch in gears of war(gridlock)

Posted by Memento - Thursday, September 06, 2007 11:30 PM
Those idiots got what was coming to them, simple enough. They should've been banned for more than 24 hours, but eh, whatever floats the Microsoft boat.

My friends just wanted to let you guys know they are back on XBL. Well when they get home from work that is,

Posted by vismortis - Sunday, September 09, 2007 9:05 PM
funny that MS wanted to ban them IW wanted to let it go they were thriled said it was cool that people were this crazy about their game.

Posted by clestria32 - Friday, September 14, 2007 9:58 PM
I think people that like to cheat the system makes it hard for those of us who truly enjoy playing games through XBL or other services look bad. Thank you Microsoft for keeping the bad guys out.
