'Guitar Hero 4' Dedicated To Aerosmith?

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Wednesday, September 05, 2007 7:53 AM

Either someone got their facts wrong or Guitar Hero IV will be dedicated to Aerosmith.

Billboard.com reports: "Besides the album, Aerosmith is also working closely with the makers of Guitar Hero IV, which will be dedicated to the Boston group's music. 'I don't know much about the technical part of it,' Perry says, 'but artistically we're working hand in hand.'"

So, if you take Billboard at their word, you have to expect the next Guitar Hero to be a veritable greatest hits of Aerosmith... we wouldn't put our money on it, though. We find it much, much more likely that Perry and Billboard weren't fully aware of what they were talking about; after all, Perry is a bona fide rockstar. Why should he 'know the technical part' of some dumb videogame? So we seriously doubt this is true. Aerosmith are okay and all, if you like that sort of thing, but a full game of Aerosmith? Not gonna happen.

This is pure speculation, but we could totally see a downloadable Aerosmith content pack coming for Guitar Hero 3. That sounds more likely, and may have been what Perry was talking about.

Trivia note: The only good game based on a band we can think of is arcade classic Journey: Escape. (And, in truth, it wasn't that good of a game.)

No what about Aerosmith's videogame, Revolution X, or whatever it was called?? That was basically kinda sorta completely all about Aerosmith. And shooting CD's at totalitarian government forces. Or something.

This may be more like a ton of DLC for GH III based on Aerosmith. Either way it's a good thing.

Oh, damn! You're totally right. And that game was actually sort of fun. Aerosmith has the LIFE.

I remember playing that in the arcade and then buying it on genesis. Good times.

Posted by ASXL41 - Wednesday, September 5, 2007 8:47 AM

Not a bad old game. But to have an entire GH game on one band would be old...fast.

Posted by Necrotix - Wednesday, September 5, 2007 9:02 AM

Um wtf GH3 isn't out yet... Can we say this genre is now formulatic and cookie-cutter? GH3 was going to be my first game purchased in this series. I guess they just add tracks, putz around with some graphics and pump em out as fast as they can... meh.

Very likely they heard Aerosmith would be involved with 'Guitar Hero IV' and assumed that Guitar Hero is a videogame version of a biography series... standard Billboard not doing their research.

I hope thats not true. I mean, I love me some old Aerosmith, back when they were rock n roll instead of pop rock but I can't see an entire game of being only their music. That will turn so many GH fans away. I can see Aerosmith's songs being downloadable content like an expansion but an enitre game?? Stupid idea.

Posted by rvawillie - Wednesday, September 5, 2007 11:33 AM

A whole Aerosmith GH would be ridiculous. Especially if they took any songs after the Get a Grip album. I highly doubt this rumor is true. I buy into a buyable download for GH3.

Yeah that old shool Aerosmith game was pretty fun. I remember throwing expoding CD's at enemies and Aerosmith got caught by some terrorist organization...I never did figure out how to prevent that. I always got the "If you're seeing this we were caught" message. I heard if you shoot the lights in the strip club you could of prevented it. I was young then so whatever. Good times...Good times...

Virtual Music had a (PC) game with a guitar Pick you could make your way through the game eventually playing with Aerosmith on stage.
Anyone remember..Anyone...anyone....

I LOVE GUITAR HERO!!! I have no life.... but I have to agree you can't base a game on one band. MORE PANTERA and ALICE AND CHAINS!! PLEASE
