Freestyle 101’s exploration of the Los Angeles underground continues with Neila.
One of the most poetic MCs on the scene, this Hawaiian born rapper spends her days as a grade school teacher and nights spittin’ rhymes. Her latest album is called For Whom the Bells Crow and features her intricate, melodic flow over artsy, moody beats.
Neila was kind enough to stop by The Engine Room to kick a freestyle about World of Warcraft, Smokin’ Aces and life in Hollywood. There ain’t many females in the rap game these days, so when a lady of her talent stepped in the booth, us manly men at Freestyle 101 were truly in awe. Thanks for coming, Neila.
A new Freestyle 101 goes up every Tuesday at 3:00 pm ET (that’s noon on the west coast). Next up is Spider Loc of G-Unit, then Sean Kingston, Master P and Romeo, Bizarre of D-12, Myka 9 of Freestyle Fellowship, and many more. Peep our behind-the-scenes photo gallery, visit us on MySpace and check out our beatmasters, Messiaz.
