PSP Helps Foil Kidnapping

A kidnap victim in Tennessee may owe his very life to the Sony PSP.

Southern scofflaws nabbed Mr. Jose Ignacio Ortega Garcia last week and held him in a dank motel room for nine days. He was beaten, tortured, made to write checks totaling $17,000 and otherwise roughed up by a pair of men. Garcia was  was only able to escape when one thug was so distracted by a PSP game he let his guard down long enough for Garcia to loosen the ropes around him. When the nere-do-well fell asleep, Garcia seizes the opportunity to jet from his makeshift prison.

His kidnappers also made him call his wife and tell her that he had left her for another woman in order to keep her from calling the police. Smart thinking. Not-so-smart thinking: Leaving a thumbprint on the PSP.

Cops nabbed Jose Sanchez, 18, and Juan Gonzales, 28 for the crime.

Which PSP game was so compelling was not revealed, although we like to think it was Loco Roco.
