lol xbox live users have to pay for everything.... i feel sorry for you

Posted by freeway8989 - Monday, August 13, 2007 3:26 PM

bookshelf, please. Aside from having a free subscription, you guys have to pay for as much as we do. Sony is actually going to charge you for furniture in Home. At least XBL charges us for stuff we actually need.

Plus, at least that $50/year gets MS off their asses to actually put stuff on heir network instead of leaving it empty (like Sony).

PSN is far from empty but i will admit that Live does have more

The $50 a year they get from over 7 million live subscriptions, M$ will never loose money plus the money we payed for live went to get GTA 4 EXCLUSIVES that isn't on the ps3!!!! I think.

Home does look really stupid It is a place where you get to see company ads that we see enough of on TV...

XBL was a visionary move by Microsoft. Everything else is a clone of it-they are way ahead of the curve on this one. Kudos to M$ for all the great content they manage to secure for us :D

Necrotix is right M$ is the company hat made the console that really jump start the online gaming community with live, PSN isn't.

Posted by Mickit - Monday, August 13, 2007 9:06 PM

PS3 owners don't have to pay shit to get online service, Live is only a little better, wanna know why? because you HAVE to pay for it, can't beat free online service that is at least decent.

Posted by freeway8989 - Monday, August 13, 2007 10:38 PM

Actually Mickit,

XBL is a LOT better than PSN. First of all, $50 a YEAR is a nominal fee. I spend more on milk each year. And since the fee is small, and you get a SUPER online community, XBL completely shits over the PSN. It has ten times the number of gamers (it might be more, actually), has several times more content, and has a much more robust communication system. Point is, I'd rather pay $50 a year for a truly outstanding experience than get a sub-par bargain-bin deal.

Seriously, you act like people have to sacrifice an arm or a leg to pay for XBL. Get real.

If your already paying for xbox live how is it free content?

Posted by Fx_Avatar - Tuesday, August 14, 2007 7:08 AM

Ok, I have to post on this. Microsoft has figured out a way to rip us off and make us like it. XBL forces you to pay for content that the game companies would give us for free if we just looked for it. Game Demos? Gamer Tags that shows there product? Low end ports of games from the 80’s? Movie trailers? All of these we pay Microsoft to “give” to us all the while we are looking at ad’s on each of our blades that they make money on the back end with. I don’t have a PS3, so I have no idea what home really looks like so I can’t compare, but as a 360 owner, I am not happy with M$’s new income method. Even more, I am shocked to hear people defend it. Can you not see we are getting ripped off? This is content that is available for free on the net (or would be if M$ didn’t force contracts to make it “exclusive”). Wake up and notice there hand on your wallet.

you know sh*t is going wrong when microsoft gives away something for FREE!

and all you xbox-live-lovers need to get your sh*t together. XBOX LIVE isnt a great service, HALO LIVE is the great one. w/o halo xbox live would be a complete rip-off. b*tches

its 14 cents a day man, calm down. and no, you couldnt get to play a stranglehold demo on the internet, the only things it charges you for are tv show, movies, some DLC for games, and gamerpics, i disclude themes because it is possible to make your own on your computer. You spend more money on your average gas trip than a year on XBL, and you have to work a day at minimum wage, whoop-de-friggen-doo, get over it because it is so worth it.

Posted by freeway8989 - Tuesday, August 14, 2007 10:05 AM

Fx_Avatar,

Um, what trailers and demos are you paying for?

I haven't paid a single cent for any trailer or demo I downloaded off of XBL.

In fact, in the last week, I DL the Strangehold demo, Bioshock demo, Too Human trailer, and the Chromehounds trailer ALL for FREE. If you're paying for those things, all I can say is that you're ether a Sony fanboy lying his ass off, or you're subscribing to the wrong network.

And last time I checked, when an online community has 12 million members, it IS considered a great service.

The point is that they have made a good amount of coin from our software purchases and from the on screen advertising that XBL should be free. I know that they don’t make much if any from the sale of the console, but to charge you so much for the hardware then make you pay to use it fully (I know there is silver account, but at that point they disable your ability to play against other people online, something that most games on PC have for free). In my opinion, it is worse than the MMO movement that has taken over the gaming world, with MMO’s you had to pay for the server for the games to work on. XBL only MATCHES you to games that others have started and let the end user run the servers and they do nothing. Yes, I am sure all the downloadable content that you can buy online from XBL is taking server space, but you have to BUY the content. Again, they have figured out how to make us pay them for a service that should be free, and like them for it.

Posted by Fx_Avatar - Tuesday, August 14, 2007 10:56 AM

freeway8989,
If you have a gold account, you have paid for those entire downloads. As for what other online service that has that large of users that do not charge for access, well, as for games go, I am thinking Guild Wars is a MMO that even hosts the servers and costs nothing. Blizzard has a matchmaking service for its WC3 (and older games like Starcraft). And there is EA’s Battle Field 2142, it requires login access to protect the copyrights of EA, but has no cost to play and works as a great matchmaking service.
The point is that these services have been around longer the XBL and for the most part, have been free. What M$ has done is focus them into a single point, slap there name on it, and then charge you for it.

i dont suppose the $50 you pay every year has anything to do with this. *coughs 'retard'*

The only freebies that the pimp Microsoft should be giving away is the xbox 360's themselves and xbox live in it's entirety and all of the cons of owning the xbox 360 consoles is why i say that.
