NASA Designs Asteroid Nuking Satellite

Remember that movie about the asteroid? No, not Deep Impact. The other one... with Ben Affleck. Well NASA wants to make that happen.

NASA has drawn up plans for a satellite that houses six 1.2-megaton B83 nuclear warhead equipped interceptors that could deflect asteroids up before threatening Earth.

The idea is to detonate the nukes before the asteroid hits and knock it away making it someone else's problem. Good thing, too, because there's a big, bad asteroid coming in 2029.

Good looking out, NASA.
