The Xbox 360 Elite package has it. The upcoming very, very special Halo Edtion Xbox 360 package will have it. Hell, why not put it on everything else!
Aside from the 360 upgrade chip gossip roaming around, the tech gurus over at Ars Technica said that 'a new version of the Core and Premium (Xbox 360) in late August and September...will include an HDMI port,' according to their 'inside source'. Microsoft has been very hush with rumors: Price-cuts, chip upgrades, and now this. But from the looks of how things have been going in the 360 rumor circle, it looks like this one's bound to happen.
An upgraded chip plus an HDMI port sounds like a great console to us-except for that forsaken 'ring of death'. It would simply equal an epic holiday console showdown: Should you go buy a Blu-Ray enabled PS3? Or battle it online with Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii? Maybe just dive in to the (eventually) improved 360? So many choices...so little bank accounts.

This IS good for future 360 owners, but current owners did get the shaft. Of course, it's not as if component is so bad. Hell, it is true HD, and it's not as if everyone owns 1080P HDTVs with 3 HDMI inputs anyway.

Comparable X-Box 360 Premium with HDMI (first it has to come out) with 20 gigs for $349. But wait there's more, HD DVD add-on for $179 and the Wireless Option for $99.
X-Box pros- more games, and online (that you still have to pay for)
PS3 pros- better upfront value, longer lasting tech (we'll see a 360-2 before we see a PS4)
And ya, I'm sure MS would love to slap a Xbox 360 case on a PS3, bump up the price, and make it harder for developers to make games.
Here's a better idea: fix the damn thing and send the new ones to retail. Plus, if someone's breaks, send them a new fixed one.
And I'm gonna say that before they start adding HDMI to everything, they should have built in wi-fi, or it should come with the adapter, or at least make it a lot cheaper.

Appearing to be cheap at the beginning is one step to somewhat fooling consumers. Even though the Xbox 360 lacks wi-fi and such, the fact that the actual box costs less than the PS3 is what sells it. I think that's probably the only reason someone would buy the core system because unless they are only planning on playing Halo 3 (not a bad idea), they will probably need that hard drive.
Also, more people from my experience run ethernet, not wi-fi. And from my experience, most people are just dandy with normal DVDs. However, a lot more people are getting HDTVs, and that's what the Xbox 360 is, a box that plays well on HDTVs (and SDTVs I suppose) for a cheaper price than the PS3.
What exactly is wrong with your brain if you wouldn't take sumething worth $350 for free? Though I'd never buy a PS3, sure I'd take one for free cause I could play the good games that will eventually come out for it (or so I am told) and it would be less annoying than using my Vaio as a Blu-Ray player (by having to hook it up to the tv).

My Reasons:
-360 has hardware issues
-PS3 has lacked games -plus- BluRay isn't the format standard- yet.
Now.., the if I were to choose a system to buy, it would be the 360 hands down because of the game library and frame-rates. However, I see that both consoles are still in the price-cut/price-war and I'd feel more comfy when the dust has settled and, in the case of the 360, when the console has finally produced an iteration of itself that has all of the bells and whistles that truly make it a competitive, next-gen console.
For me, it's like: Why buy something that's only gonna change it's price and features two weeks later??
and really, who wants to run a ethernet line from the computer desk in the other room, through the house into the living room where the main tv is.
wifi is just cleaner looking.
and my question is how the F is that little peice of plastic wifi adapter for the 360 $99????? i think a more suitable price for that thing would be maybe $40 or $50, i mean thats how much wifi adapters are for computers, why not the 360?

Ya, that's why I use wireless, running the cable through the hallway is dumb. It is a good adapter and sticks right on the console, but ya $100 is rediculous.
And actually, before they dropped the conole prices (which were fine) they should have dropped the wi-fi adapter and hard drive prices (the HD-DVD player should have been more than $20 price drop).

That's just how it works, because they know that if they start with one type of thing, people will buy it. Then, if they upgrade it, more people will buy it (even some who bought the previous model). They'll just keep doing that cause they know people will buy it.

In response to "MGS4 WILL NEVER GO TO THE 360 END OF STORY": First off, the fact that Konami is open to having MGS on other platforms prooves you wrong in your assumption. No, it doesn't mean that it WILL come to the Xbox 360, but you can't dismiss the possibility. Also I suppose you know how much disc space MGS4 takes up cause you are so sure that it wouldn't work on a DVD.

The fact you are basing your info off of a rumor is pretty retarded in its own, The whole Kojima being open to multi platform MGS "franchise" is a rumor, and that doesn't mean MGS4 will be ported, it means future MGS games could be ported.

The Xbox 360 has been out for a year longer and they are now hitting their stride. if they have so many games name 5 that are out now that are good games that i can go but in the store and will not be on both systems. the first one I know will be Gears so come up with something else.
Also Quit bicthing about the amount of games on the PS3 their has been no system in history that in its first year had a super amout of games the only reason 360 has not had those problems is because the rushed to market with a faulty product!!!
