Young Obi Wan-Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor, and his best friend Charley Boorman have successfully traveled from Scotland to the Southern tip of Africa over three months.
They used custom BMW motorcycles and were guided the entire way by a Nokia 6110 GPS phone. The journey will be featured as a six-part documentary on the BBC.
Here's a link to the trailer for the series (QuickTime required).
Newsflash to American cell phone companies:
This is yet another example of how much better cell phones are outside of the United States. If two guys can use a phone's GPS to navigate through Europe and all of Africa, maybe it's time to look into getting us Americans some real service.
TheFeed doesn't really care about seeing blips or dots of our friends on our laughable GPS. We aren't trying to get extreme with our GPS systems. It would be nice to have real navigation support in a phone or perhaps true mobile broadband.
