According to Sony, the PlayStation 3 is transforming. Like an innocent-looking car transforming into a giant robot, the PS3 is going from game console to game console-with-a-DVR-and-TV-Tuner.
Warwick Light, Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand's head of marketing said, "We're also hoping next year – about the same time that Freeview launches its terrestrial broadcasting service (expected to be in March) – to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder."
So you'll be able to record hours of The Nanny re-runs on your PS3, and that equals awesome entertainment value for you.
It's all part of an overall strategy to adapt the PS3 to the changing entertainment needs of consumers.
We're sure more details will come up soon.
