Game Preview: EA's Skate

Tony Hawk has literally owned the skateboarding genre in video games for as long as anyone can remember. There've been a few sad attempts to take the crown, but no one's ever come close.

Enter 'Skate.'

EA takes a much more realistic approach to skateboarding, with its new "Flickit" control scheme which more closely mimics actual movement. Look for 'Skate' on Xbox 360 and PS3 September 12th.

I didn't know Tony Hawk had literal ownership of the skateboarding genre in video games. Wait, he doesn't, because if he did, Skate wouldn't exist.

finally a realistic come upings in skateboarding. forget tony hawk. i play through those games too quick. i have been on a skateboard for about 20 years. it is hard and hopefully this games captures that. i have been waiting for a game that helps me figure out what i want to do on a board. no revert manuals or other crap. invent your own style and all. learn bsts 270so and earn it.
anyone here remember how tony hawk retired from profesional skateboarding when the industry fell out in the early 90's only to return when the money came back. he is a sellout. pure down to earth street skating is needed in a video game.

Finally!! I've been waiting for a realistic skating game. I mean, I love all of the Tony Hawk games, but it's just way too over the top to be able to do a triple kickflip to blunt slide to nose manual to 720 airwalk to board slide on a power line to 360 flip....

Tony Hawks gone downhill.
project 8 sucked, and teh downhill thing-i wont even call it a game- made me puke.
any ways i kinda like the underground games with the RPGyness.

I loved project 8...and I know I will feel the same about skate. having the option of extremly reallistic and not so much is good, I just hope that Tony Hawk comes fires back with a new and improved game that can rival skate

i skate a lot and tony hawk games really make people depreciate how hard it is... i think skate will give people a new kind of respect for skaters instead of thier views of us as little punks just trying to get in trouble

I think skates going to be the best skatteboarding game ever. Tony hawks been the same since underground. Plus, tony Hawk never has had x games and danny ways mega compound.
