Its graphics might be pretty jaggy, and its processors might not be powerful enough to assist with curing cancer through folding@home, but the Nintendo Wii is doing a lot to help humanity.

Here's a brief round-up of some of the ways Wii is saving the planet:

  • A Canadian gym has incorporate a Wii Workout Station into circuit training. Users can punch, run and jump with the Wii-mote.
  • Hospitals are using the Wii for rehab. Doctors say victims of strokes, sports injuries, car crashes and degenerative diseases can be helped out with some Wii-work.
  • Kids at cooking camp are learning new and exciting recipes from Cooking Mama.
  • Physisicts are hacking the Wii-mote for its onboard accelerometer, hooking it up to a PC and using it to perform simple experiments and teach kids physics.
