iPhone Exploit is Pretty Bad

Posted by Brian Leahy - Monday, July 23, 2007 12:00 PM

It must be Mac Hacking day because here's another Apple exploit hot off the presses. Some other hackers have found an exploit in the Safari browser on the iPhone. A hacker could throw a website up with the evil code that will give them full access to an iPhone.

This lets them do things like record the audio from the room the iPhone is in, see the text messages sent, check search history in the browser and Google Maps, and more.

Instead of making a worm and not telling Apple, these folks have notified Apple and will help them fix it. They also believe that the worm also affects the PC and Mac version of Apple's Safari browser.

Video of the exploit in action after the jump.

It's a good thing I store my social security number, all of credit card numbers, scans of my birth certificate, and my mother's maiden name in my iPhone. Also, Y'ALL GOT IPHONE?

Is anybody here surprised that this happened? Time to strap on the apple ball of shame

At least the people that found the exploit are using their powers for good, rather than evil.

i'm sure this is the start of a long string of hacks and viruses for Mac products. it's sad because no one ever use to try and make viruses or hacks for Mac comps and the like, but now with all the hype from the iPhone, i'm sure we'll start to see more and more. :(

on a side note, the guy sounded so mellow as he was demostrating a major exploit. that made me giggle inside.

Sounds like it was really worth that $600

Mac should have stayed in their own little shell. Now everyone wants to gut them. AT&T karma.

Apple is better than Microsoft's Crap. Microsoft didn't take security serious until a few years ago. Apple will release a update soon to fix the problem. Anybody against Apple is a fu*king idiot. The Mac won't ever get anywhere near the amount of viruses that th pc does because Apple has a dedicated team that quickly releases updates to any security holes. Microshit on the other hand has managed to release only two security packs for Windows XP. Vista well lets just say vista hasn't taken the world by storm.
