E307: Wii Zapper Looks Bad Ass

Nintendo surprised everyone during their media event by revealing a two-handed shooting peripheral for the Wii. The "Wii Zapper" locks both the Wii-mote and the Nunchuck into place and allows you to aim and shoot with both hands while still having access to all the buttons, sticks, and motion sensitivity built into the controllers.

Remember the Super Scope 6? That was one of TheFeed's favorite peripherals of all time. Not because there were any good games for it (or any at all), but just because it looked kick ass resting on your shoulder while you looked through the sight. This little bugger might give the SS6 a run for it's money. Watch and learn.

I can't wait... the Wii is perfect for shooters. This is awesome, can't wait. I hope they put a version of CoD4 on the wii, I know that it is too powerful right now but still.

That's the great thing about the Wii. The controllers are so versatile already the only accessories you can really make are plastic shells to put the controllers in. Good call Nintendo. You needed SOME kind of lightgun. I wonder if this will make Red Steel or Call of Duty 3 better...

The Wii is really NOT great for shooters, but ok. There's a reason why they're not putting Metroid Prime online with a multiplayer. Sorry to burst your bubbles. I remember this thing when it was that stupid shoulder-mounted unit for the SNES. The "Zapper" eh? Could they make it sound any more gay?

I'll tell you what lightguns aren't gay though. Namco's lightguns for their console releases of Time Crisis. Those things kick ass. Because they look like real guns. And aren't gay.

As for the zapper, looks sweet. I chuckle at the name, but you know... Rose, anyother name, etc..

The price is increadible! A periferal AND a game for FRIKIN TWENTY BUCKS! I was flippin out when Reg announced that price! Deep down inside, I hope it's a new Duck Hunt.. But I'm sure it's something better. Nintendo is kicking so much ass recently.

They said the game was gonna be 20 bucks, but when you actually think about it, it might be some small package like Wii sports. Even then, though it might still be good.

This might even be, dare I say, a "Halo Killer"! How is that possible you ask.....if a developer really puts some focus on this we could actually be gut checking people with the zapper! Why press a button in Halo when I can actually hit you in the chops! As for the game bundle....I'm hoping for a more fleshed out Wii Play shooter.....especially where the UFOs start trying to take away your Miis!

Yeah ps3 games will bow down to the holiest of all holy, The wii zapper, and for $20.00 I will be having a wii hell of a time over a overprice defective piece of crap that is the sony ps3 when you can play games with better graphics on the xbox 360 for some much less.....

Yeah I will also bet that sony will come out with a homophobic ass jamming "wii zapper" but the only thing that thing is zapping is a piece of crap.

Sony will try to make a better one and fail miserably, They will piss of wii gamers even more and maybe some 360 gamers too......

umm.....wii zapper is not that original, out of everything nintendo gave us, this is the least.

there has been many arcade guns available from the PS2 and Xbox, not sure bout the gamecube.

But yeah, i don't think Sony would copy the wii zapper since they already introduced a gun for timeshift or w/e that game is called earlier this year.

also i could make try to make my own wii zapper, you just have to stick the wiimote on top and the nunchuck as the handle. No brainer

they copied halo, wii motion sensor, xbox 360 marketplace, They copied viva pinata, they copied pgr 4, the copied ,ass effect, the copied it down to the point where the only thing that is diffrent between the 360 and ps3 is shape, power (xbox has more), color, and controller (ps3 is light and has no rumble, i don't like that)

This looks awesome. I can't wait. Duck Hunt is awesome and developers could turn this into a "Halo Killer" pretty easy. Great fun, great times, and great games. What a great time to be a gamer.

I Love my PS3 as well. Wii and PS3 together make Navar a very happy gamer.

Every console has its good points and its bad points. I own a wii simply because at the time I couldn't afford the other two. I am working on getting a 360 and in about 5 years when the PS3 actually has some games and isn't a $600 paperweight I may think about getting one of those. For now though I look forward to the wii-zapper along with the game that it will be bundled with (probably a version of resident evil) and its $20 price tag. Regardless of the console you are going to have fanboys and haters but they as far as I'm concerned they don't need to open their mouth until they have tried all the systems and formed their own opinion about it. And not hate it just because someone else said that it was stupid.
