There's been a lot of talk among gamers about the failure rates of Xbox 360s--estimates have as many as 33% of Xboxes suffering from the dreaded ring of death, although Microsoft estimates it's around 3%. But what about the PlayStation 3 and the Wii? How are they stacking up?
Console manufacturers don't usually release the exact numbers of how many of their consoles break down, so all this information is suspect, but website ripten.com at least made an effort to determine the reliability of the Wii and the 360. They spoke to Best Buy and EB Games employeesand managers who estimated the number of returns on the two systems to be as low as 1%.
Take it with a huge, gigantic grain of salt, of course, but there you go. Make of this information what you will.
