Accidental iPhone Destruction

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Wednesday, July 04, 2007 3:28 PM

Mac-heads with weak stomachs might want to look away. Within 24 hours of his ultimate nerd-cred purchase, a very unlucky consumer tried to quickly answer his iPhone while it was still plugged in, causing the power cord to yank said iPhone out of his hand and smash it against the edge of the table it was resting on just before.

The first casualty is always the hardest to see. Surprisingly, when this unfortunate young man brought his smashed phone (and bruised ego) into the Apple store they gave him a brand new iPhone free of charge. Now we know that the iPhone can be destroyed by mortal man and that Steve Jobs is in fact not the Highlander.

I wouldn't say buying the iPhone is exactly Nerd-cred, let alone the ultimate version of it. More like... sheep cred.

I'm going to have to agree with wildfire.

The people who lined up for hours for iPhones need to take a solo walk out into the middle of a field with a shotgun...1 round should get the job done.

Posted by hawk_hotlips - Wednesday, July 4, 2007 9:33 PM

Well at least Apple is better than MicroCrap. they didn't charge him 149$ for repairs.

Posted by freeway8989 - Thursday, July 5, 2007 8:51 AM

Altizar,

Well at least MS doesn't charge $600 for something that costs $250 to make.

everyone on these message boards is nominated for hater of the year.I seriously regret buying my treo 700wx cause a week after purchase apple announced the iphone.

Posted by jabberwolf - Tuesday, July 10, 2007 4:39 PM

altizar

Thats because they have insurance on the iphone!

And if ya have the same thing with your Windows Mobile that can do a hell of alot more and not CRACK under pressure, you'd get a replacement too.

Actually I just buy mine at best buy for the quickest swap out.

sebadude2004 - You only see haters because you are looking at us from a sheep point of view. We just point out the facts and not the hype.

That's not called hate - its REALITY!
Now stop drinking the Steve Jobs punch and wake up!

Bah, no iPhone here. I'm quite happy with my basic cell phone. No MP3 playback, no crappy low mega-pixel camera, no ringtones, no frill. What I need is to be able to contact people while I'm on the go. The simple cell phone that came free with my contract can do that just fine, and my battery will last a heck of a lot longer.

...........Well I guess waiting for the next gen was a smart idea.
