DARPA is the government agency which has brought us such romantic defense innovations as invisible shields, bionic arms and two different and complicated robot races.
Now, they want to go upgrade the infastructure of the Internet to make it fitter, happier and more productive. They are going to do this by finding ways to improve transfer speeds, routing efficiency and reliablility. They also want to simplify network configuration and reduce cost.
