'Spore' Delayed Until '09

Is Spore in danger of becoming the biggest piece of vaporware since Duke Nuke 'Em Forever? Sadly, it's looking that way.

According to Game Informer magazine by way of Kotaku, The eagerly anticipated civilization-building game from Sim City genius Will Wright has been pushed back from an '08 release to an '09 release.

No reasons were given, leaving only empty speculation and a terrible longing in the souls of gamers desperate to play the game.

I'd actually never heard of spore until the feed mentioned it.

Hopefully this game does not turn into a delayed stinker.(Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness anyone?)

I'm all for longer development times if it means a better end product.If they take too long however people tend to forget.

HA! I think this is great. I am just remembering Will Wright going on a tantrum calling the Wii a POS for ignoring that game developing is an art and for daring to not take artistry into account and just making fun games.

Apparently Will is so concerned about Spore being artwork that he has removed all fun from it and will not actually ever release it.

This is really bad, this game probably would have revolutionised the game industry.

how can you say you have no interest in spore. a developer finally makes a games thats not a re-hashing of an older game with a new face and you blow it off. all gamers demand innovation and when an innovative game comes along everybody ignores it. same thing happened to shadow of the colossus.

"“There seems to be some misinformation flying around,” explained a rep in a phone interview. “Nothing’s changed since our call on May 8, where [CEO] John Riccitello specifically said that we were moving Spore from fiscal ’08 to early fiscal ’09."

EA's fiscal 2009 runs from April 2008 through March 2009."

fiscal 09 actually means april-july of 08(somewere around their,it's just a bussiness term like the fourth quarter(also when spore comes out) so PLASE stop posting that its delayed to 2009!Misinformation kills like guns and rosie odonald when your infront of a buffet

oh and i ment quater 1 of fiscal 09 which is a potential 1 DAY DELAY not a 1 year 1 DAY!!! I can't belive that you peoplee didn't know this!!! im like 13 and know more about this than the people covering it???!!! WHAT THE F*CK!!!U guys must b smokin crack or somethin to post a huge mistake like this!!!they moved it from late q4 to early q1!!! form March 31 to april-june!!!!!OMG!Well im done bye

Just to clear things up, IT HAS BEEN DELAYED TO 09, but not 2009, Fiscal 09, which is March-June 2008, GI dropped the ball on that one.

I'm looking forward to Spore and think it combines the greatest components of my favorite games. Though I'm eager to get my hands on it, I want Will Wright to take his time and make sure it's flawless.

They did bad marketing on this game. They should of anounced it a lot later than 2005 when they acually did anounce it. They didnt realize how long it would take and now people are forgetting about it. But if they had anounced it some time like right now everyone would be on the bandwagon.

ok, all of you morons STFU. spore still has plenty of fans, a couple people forgot, but millions joined in. and they all want spore, no one dam cared about Duke Nukem whatever. Spore is a different kind of game, its not just programming new lazers and armor for Master Cheif. if you dont like spore, your not really a gamer. so no one really cares what you think.
