Zune 2, Codename: Draco

Posted by John Manalang - Tuesday, June 19, 2007 10:48 AM

Draco emerges! As a Scottish dragon in medieval times, voiced by the almighty Mr. Sean Connery, Draco…

Oh, this is not Dragonheart 2? Damn.

Microsoft’s flash-based Zune 2 project now apparently goes by the codename, Draco. Sounds more intimidating than its former name, Pyxis—from fairy names to dragons, the wow definitely starts now!

Engadget reports that the new flash-based Zune product is going to be released in 4 and 8gb models. Ergonomically, it’s going to be much more compact than its brick-counterpart. But just like the first Zune, ‘Draco’ is going to have the same WiFi capabilities and video playback which should be a distinct advantage over Apple’s iPod Nano.

Let’s face it; Apple’s iPod products are a phenomenon that outshines any competition. Most people simply refer to iPod as a general name for mp3 players. Microsoft’s best bet to even come close to competing is the Zune’s WiFi capabilities. But so far, we still don’t feel quite welcome to the social.

Never been an iPod fan, but do know my Zune rocks. Hopefully they build on the orig and make it better. Anything but another shitty Mac product.

Way to go with your shitty ad hominem attacks. Just because you fear it doesn't mean it sucks. But then again, if everybody loved Macs, they wouldn't be cool.

@used2loverhad2killer:
not everybody loves macs, and those who dont like them dont fear them. i hate macs, have since day one, and i love the zune, and when the zune hit the spot it put a dent in apple's armor. if microsoft can do that again and again, than microsoft can show people that teh ipod isnt all that great. and mac products do suck. they suck hard.

you know what the Zune needs? a marketplace like the xbox. You can connect to the marketplace using wi-fi then download songs directly onto your Zune.

i just bought a new computer and need to download itunes to listen m4p files i had gotten from friends. with the new itunes, apple offers to give you a better quality sound file for $1.29 instead of the usual $.99. if apple really wanted my business they would have offered the best quality file form the beginning. i have a zune, it's great. with the zune pass i can pay a monthly fee and download all the music i want. incredible.

I don't know what the hell it is about this site that draws in Apple haters but it does big time. Let up or shut up.
