We’re not sure if this is awesome, ridiculous, or some ridiculously awesome or awesomely ridiculous combination of the two, but The White Stripes are releasing their next album, Icky Thump, on a pair of limited edition USB thumb drives created in the likeness of Meg and Jack.
The 512-megabyte drives will be available next week for the low, low price of $99 a piece and will contain the entire Icky Thump track list in the Apple Lossless format. For those collectors who wouldn’t dare dream of dividing the Detroit duo’s digital doppelgangers, you can save $10 when you purchase both. Only 3,333 of each drive will be made available, so you might want to act fast.
While TheFeed can’t decide where to come down on the merit of the promotion, we do fully appreciate the savvy marketing department brainstorm of thump = thumb = thumb drives!!!
In the words of those old-timey guys from the beer commercials, “brilliant!”
