Man Dies in Jail For Minor Drug Offense

Posted June 8, 2007 - By Dana Leahy

A 27-year-old Washington DC quadriplegic man was sentenced to ten days in jail for a minor marijuana charge and died during his stay because he was denied medical treatment.

The man, a quadriplegic who was using marijuana to make himself feel better, because you know he didn't have any arms and legs, needed a ventilator to help him breathe. The jail failed to provide him with one and he passed away.

Prosecutors in his recommended, mainly due to his medical condition, that he simply be placed on probation instead of being put in jail; however, after the man told the judge that he would likely use marijuana again for its medicinal effect, the judge ordered him to be put in jail.

With someone else who all know and despise getting out of jail early for her two DUI offenses, it's an extra turn of the knife to read a story like this about an ordinary American citizen, just trying to live an easier life, who pays the ultimate price.

America! F*#k Yeah!
