A rogue text message that warned of an impending tsunami on June 7th sent thousands of Indonesians running from their homes in panic. Of course, since it's impossible to predict a tsunami, the message was revealed to have been a hoax.
This leads TheFeed to a couple of questions. First, if you got a text message saying that there was a tsunami coming, just, you know, out of nowhere, wouldn't you ask someone before deciding to flee? Also, if you were going to play a practical joke by text message, wouldn't it seem a little cruel to panic people about a tsunami after the last one killed so many people? That would be like sending employees of the Empire State Building a text message saying that you heard that a plane was coming their way. Not cool.
