Nuggets From The Net: Voltron Is The Devil

Oh boy, do we have a doozy of a nugget for you today! This little clip comes from a 1984 public access show called "Turmoil in the Toy Box."

In it, two hosts, who implore the power of Jesus to break your household from the bondage of the evil Voltron, talk about how robot based cartoons have "occultic" (that's not even a word, btw) overtones.

First, they set their God Lasers to stun and aim at Voltron and spew some nonsense about how because there are stars in the cartoon, it's obviously about witchcraft.

Then, they turn to the Transformers and are appalled by the fact that cartoon robots actually get shot and killed. Little steam comes out of their lasered bodies. They imply that children will easily be convinced, by seeing giant metal robots destroy each other, that killing is ok.

Obviously, the other best thing about this video, is the set. Including the gingham wingback chairs these douches are sitting on.

I thought I was in for a good laugh, until I saw just how brainwashed these guys really are. I knew a mentally challenged (no, not retarded) kid back in High School, and his love of Jesus and Transformers kept him from caving in to the assholes that screwed with him all day long. If he would have seen these douchebags, he might have believed it and killed himself. Or a lot of people. If there is a hell (doubt it), I hope these guys pack aloe vera when they die, because they will need it.

okay 1st off I consider myself a strong christian man.That being said,I dont remember our lord and savior having anything against robots,I mean cmon,obviously the transformers are strong followers of the lord,and well,the decepticons are just aithest. OH wait.there is john7:87 though shalt not waste energon.These guys give christians a bad name. most people are smart enough to know the difference between killing people & robots(unless of course they were in disguise,hmmm)its a cartoon and should be taken as such. and how are kids gonna think its okay to kill from a robot being shot? last time I checked the local wallmart didnt cary a universal bio energy disruptors.(sounds right)Lastly if their kids get killing people is okay from a toon about robots,its not a change in belief structure they need,more like a mental doctor and some checking of thier dna structure 2 find out what link is missing that didnt allow thier brain to fully develope.-robot activist

I go against this completely. Yes, there is witchcraft and killing. But it is the bad guys that are doing them, implying that it is bad to do witchcraft and kill. In shows like transformers, they teach us that peace is what we need but violence is neccesary in certain times. Even in the bible they killed people so is the bible violent? Just look at Samson....and the hebrews with the Ark of the Covenant....They killed many people and God helped them too....
This is coming from a 14 year old catholic and that's my point of view. But I might have already been exposed to too much violent shows and its changed my point of view.

I too am an STRONG Christian and I love transformers. Nobody died in the episode of transformers. The transformer who got blasted, actully BECAME Optimus Prime. That was his origin episode. They clearly didn't watch the entire episode.

OK. I'm a Christian. I love Transformers. I plan on seeing the movie this summer.
I disown those men. They scare me. I'm sorry, but when I watched Transformers The Movie and saw Optimus Prime and a bunch of other Transformers get slaughtered, my first thought was not that I should go out and kill someone. I think that seeing these robots (ROBOTS, not humans) die, if anything, just gave Transformers Generation 1 a bigger sense of realism. You wnated to connect with these characters, knowing that they could die in any episode. It's like Heroes. Unfortunately, those crappy anime spinoffs will never amount to Generation 1.
Ugh. Those two guys will be needing Jesus's help when the mech fans get through with them.

I have never understood this viewpoint... in what way does the bad guy consulting a witch poison the minds of the children. Even from a standpoint that witchcraft is evil power granted by satan, it's the bad guys using it.... what's the problem? are we worried our children might learn that a)Witchraft is evil and b)People who rely on magic always lose?
what's wrong with that?

oh and G4tdaddy, when they said stars they were talking about the rampant pentacles in voltron used in that show to symbolize the five lions which become one robot, not the stars in the night sky..

I would rather a kid TRY to use witchcraft than a real gun anyhow, Ive seen people who have been into the black arts and voodo and all this other satanic crap claiming it works and they only thing I ever seen them do it make a fool out of themselves. there is good, there is evil, if a little kid wants to think hes a witch/warlock, let them go ahead, they'll grow out of it. how many mentally sane older people do you know that say" im a witch" everyone has a choice to follow God or not (hes a gentleman he wont force you) so if the dumb kids want to be a witch it isnt gonna be because of voltron

Btw this show had to have come out in 85-86 and not 84... I know this because the episode of transformers was from season 2, when the Aerialbots traveled back in time to learn how the Decepticons were truely evil.

Seriously- this is current? WTF? TAlk about giving your religion a bad name. I don't see how the Transformers part they showed their could give anyone the idea that they should go out and start shooting folks. But I guess when you don't watch a lot of tv you might get the idea that it is cartoons that warp kids minds and nothing else- like say abusive parents or adults, drug use, poverty, mental health issues, etc. To quote Jown Wayne: "Life is tough. Hmm this look verry familliar.... Possibly the big thing about harry potter teaching children wizardry and wichcraft? First of which do these people really think that kids will realy see transformers shoot at each other and say "hey Jimmy lets go out side and kill people!" I think not. If anything this help kids learn that people are not all "good" and "nice".
