TV Ad Sound Levels To Be Regulated

Posted June 4, 2007 - By Mike D'Alonzo

You've heard it a million times. You're sitting and watching TV, and the show you're into goes to commercial, and the level of the sound in the commercial rises like 20db instantly, blowing out your eardrums and scaring your cat. Well, no more, folks. The Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice (BCAP) wants to institute more stringent regulations about the sound of television advertisements as they relate to the shows you watch.

What does this mean for you? Probably not a lot, since you TiVo your television anyway, and skip the advertisements whenever possible. However, on those rare occasions when you watch ads, you don't have to put on protective headgear anymore. Thanks BCAP!
