'Miuro' The Dancing Robotic iPod Player

Posted May 31, 2007 - By Josh Lawson

Are you sick of that boring iPod speaker system? Are you looking for a fun way to jam to your music?

The solution to all of your iPod boredom has arrived with the Tokyo-based venture ZMP Inc.'s 14-inch long Miuro robot. Shaped like a white ball that has been wedged between two halves of an egg, the Miuro is able to wheel about in time with music from an iPod portable player that locks into the machine.

The Japanese robot twists and rolls itself to iPod tunes in an intricate dance based on complex mathematics, a technology developers said will one day enable robots to move about spontaneously instead of following preprogrammed motions.

Watch as this trio of Miuro's get down to some groovin' beats....
