TheFeed recently sat down with New York rapper Joell Ortiz at a Freestyle 101 taping and got a scoop regarding his upcoming Aftermath debut. Despite the mixtape murderer’s debut album The Brick: Bodega Chronicles having been released by Koch on April 24, the Latin MC just signed with Dr. Dre to his Aftermath label for the followup and has already begun work with the likes of Dre, Scott Storch and Smokey Robinson.
“I’m like 10 songs in on that,” Ortiz told TheFeed exclusively of his Aftermath debut. “I just came back from Atlanta and did a song with Jazzy Pha. I just did a song with Smokey Robinson two weeks ago. I’m excited. I’m going out to Miami next week to work with Scott Storch. Dre’s doing about three or four beats, I had Kwame come in and he supplied me with some heaters, and I’m using some guys from the bricks who are on my Koch record, The Bodega Chronicles. Dre and Storch, that’s the recipe for success, right? Well, that and dope rhymes.”
You got that right, man!
