Michael Crichton fans have something to sing about today. The Andromeda Strain is being remade by producers Ridley and Tony Scott for A&E as a four-hour miniseries which will begin production this summer. For those very few of you who might not have seen the original movie when it came out in 1971, The Andromeda Strain is about an alien virus that almost destroys the world as we know it.
Just like most of Crichton's other stories, (Jurassic Park, The Terminal Man) The Andromeda Strain is really about man's pride getting the better of him, with a strange technological bent. You might recall that Michael Crichton is also the man who created ER. The original film was directed by Robert Wise, who directed the eerily similar film, West Side Story.
