Courtesy of our internet friends at TheLastBoss and our overseas friends in Spain comes a first look at what we hope will become a common thing: A gaming movie theater.
The ridiculously cool Yelmo Cineplex on the outskirts of Madrid is wired for gaming: We're talking 17-inch montiors and controllers built into dozens of seats, fog, black light, lasers, vibrating chairs, and the opportunity to game on the theater's high-def screen. Add some JuJubes and we're sold.
Right now, the theaters offerings include Battlefield 1942, GTR 2, and Pro Evolution Soccer.
"We see the future with multiplexes with five screens, one for the traditional Hollywood spectaculars and the others for screens for video halls and 3-D. That's the next step," Enrique Martinez, the brains behind the operation told the International Herald Tribune.
Yelmo aims to expand the concept throughout Spain and into the rest of Europe and North America, by allowing other theater companies to buy the same system. We'll keep you posted as to when/if an American version opens up.
