So, the Academy Awards® took place last night, and, though Ellen DeGeneres was pretty funny, the rest of the telecast was kind of boring. Yes, Martin Scorsese finally won his Best Director Oscar®, and the song with Will Ferrell, Jack Black, and John C. Reilly was very funny, but, other than that, there's nothing to really crow about.
The Departed won Best Picture, Forrest Whitaker and Helen Mirren won Best Actor and Actress, respectively, and Jennifer Hudson, not surprisingly, won Best Supporting Actress for Dreamgirls. One of the surprises of the night was Alan Arkin winning Best Supporting Actor over heavily favored Eddie Murphy. The speculation is that Norbit coming out during voting season actually hurt Murphy's chances for a win.
