The Studio 60 deathwatch is on again, folks. After a less-than-inspiring week in the ratings, NBC is pulling it off the schedule a week early so that it can premiere The Black Donnellys, a show about organized crime, in the time slot. What this means to the future of the show isn't clear, but it can't be a good sign.
Even though NBC ordered up 22 episodes of Studio 60, and only 16 will have aired by the time that the show is pulled off the schedule, there is no indication of when or if the remaining 6 episodes will ever air. Though the show is a critical favorite of NBC President Kevin Reilly, it will be hard to justify giving a $3 million an episode ratings failure a second season pickup. We shall see.
