360 Guitar Controller's Mystery Port

We have, right in our hands, right now, a Guitar Hero II controller for the Xbox 360. Here's what it looks like:

We can play it. Right now.  But before we tell you all about it, we want your help with a mystery:

This port on the wired controller:

It lives on the bottom of the axe, next to the wire, and thus far, Red Octane, Activision and all associated companies have been silent on what it does exactly.

First off, look at the cool "4" in there!

Although it looks like a phone or ethernet cable, the smart money is on it being used for some as-yet unannounced peripheral. It's just like the connectors in steering wheel controllers that connect the pedals, so we're thinking: "It's obviously for wah-wah, fuzz or other effects pedals."
