'Dark Crystal' Sequel Goes Bye-Bye

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Friday, February 02, 2007 2:30 PM

Henson Productions has shut down work on The Power Of The Dark Crystal, the sequel to The Dark Crystal, which has been in pre-production for years. Apparently, animation mogul Genndy Tartakovsky has been doing work on the feature, but it is now 'on hiatus,' with no plans to restart.

In the meantime, Henson is working on an adaptation of Edward Gorey's The Doubtful Guest, which is a much more worthy project, and should be a lot of fun, if left even a little in its original format. That Edward Gorey is a pip.

Thank god, now the MPAA won't take away one of my childhood memories by making a stupid cash grab sequel.

I'm agree with Steakweed. Why ruin a great story with some corporate greed attempt to cash in on past glory. How about taking a risk on something original just like they did in the old days when the studios had some balz.

I say make a sequel. Puppetry needs to make a comeback. I mean WB needs to get the picture that a CGI "Gremlins 3" is not the answer. And this could have been the ammo for that .... tooooo baaadd...
