YouTube to begin Sharing Revenue with Users

Posted by Robt. Juster - Monday, January 29, 2007 10:14 AM

Chad Hurley, co-founder of YouTube and all-around super rich guy (thanks Google!) said Saturday that YouTube would begin sharing revenue with its millions of users.

Great. Now the idiots who hit each other with rakes on YouTube will have money too.

There are no details at this time as to how, when and why the revenue sharing will take place, but here are Hurley's comments made at the World Economic Forum:

Saw this on my Wii news channel. This would be pretty cool, but I think that I'll just get the money by having a real job. I love making videos for free.

That's pretty cool considering they didn't have to do that. People put crap on there regardless. Good job, YouTube.

When you're worth 825 million, I think Hurley can afford to do this! Especially considering all the content they've already taken away from us. If they paid me a nickel for every vid on my favorites list that's been deleted, I'd have about 5 bucks.

I hope we don't have to pay for YouTube's services. I'm curious to know what the catches are.

So when I post a clip of a copyrighted video I'll get paid? Or I could just post the same video that has been posted by a dozen other people. I'm going to be rich, rich I tells ya!!

Its probably not going to be that easy. The way its probably gonna work is if your video gets featured then you get paid. Otherwise some jackass could probably just make a video about how his life sucks and get paid for it.

Not a bad idea, maybe they'll use the money to upgrade from rake to axes . . .
