Two groups of people really like Gears of War, gamers and folks who hand out awards. The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences has nominated Epic Games' instant classic for no less than ten awards, right alongside… other games that don’t really matter, because they’re not Gears of War. The peerless action, shooter has been nominated in the following categories:
- Overall Game of the Year
- Console Game of the Year
- Action/Adventure Game of the Year
- Outstanding Achievement in Online Game Play
- Outstanding Achievement in Game Play Engineering
- Outstanding Innovation in Gaming
- Outstanding Achievement in Animation
- Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction
- Outstanding Character Performance – Male
- Outstanding Achievement in Visual Engineering
Chances are, Gears is going to walk away with most of these, but even if it doesn’t, congratulations are due to Epic for putting out a game that's been nominated in so many categories and even more so, for creating one of the Xbox 360’s best games, period.
