‘80s goth rockers The Cult will be heading into the studio next month to begin pre-production on the group's first album since 2001's crappy, er, critically acclaimed Beyond Good and Evil.
They are shooting for a fall release, with a DVD of the band's November 13, 2006 concert at Irving Plaza in New York City due out in April as an appetizer.
The band’s founding members, Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitar), are now backed by bassist Chris Wyse, drummer John Tempesta (ex-White Zombie, Testament, Exodus, Helmet) and rhythm guitarist Mike Dimkich.
European tour dates are being booked for June, with more shows to be added in the fall and winter.
Meanwhile, Astbury is still the frontman for the current version of The Doors, now calling themselves Riders On The Storm. Funny to go from a guy everyone compared to Jim Morrison to pretending to be him in a new version of the band with some of the original members.
