IBM announced today they are opening a chain of islands in videogame Second Life.
Starting next week, IBM will open their 12 virtual islands to anyone who feels like living there. What they will offer in terms of awesomeness remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: As companies like Toyota Motor Corp., Adidas AG and American Apparel Inc. move into Second Life, the virtual world is moving away from a hip, artsy virtual life experiment and more towards an interactive billboard.
You gotta love capitalism!
I've never played Second Life. I understand it has a lot of devotees, but, from what I've heard, it's not for me. My first life takes a lot of time, what with the earning money and chronic masturbation and all.
