Holiday Decorations Hate the Internet

Posted December 8, 2006 - By Eugene Morton

AirMagnet Inc., a wireless network assurance firm (a firm whose business it is to analyze and troubleshoot Wireless LAN issues) has released a study (performed in a simulated office like environment) which suggests that holiday decorations interfere with WiFi signals.

The bright and shimmering bobbles may raise your spirits but decrease wireless signal strength by a quarter while decreasing longer range signal receptivity by about 33%.

That’s bad news for all of you who care enough to still go out, get a tree and put up decorations. My family gave up caring years ago. Have a holly, jolly, internet free holiday America!
