People who love sci-fi TV show Firefly tend to love sci-fi TV show Firefly, like want to marry it and ressurect it from the dead.
The email and letter-writing campaign began right after the short-lived TV show was yanked off the air in 2002. A non-money-making movie (Serenity) followed, and thats where the Firefly story ended... until today.
According to Wired, Multiverse, maker of a free MMO-creation platform, plans to announce it's struck a deal with Fox Licensing to turn the show into an Massively Multi-Player Online Role-Playing Game.
"We believe Multiverse can deliver an experience that will remain true to the original series, while enabling a whole new level of personal involvement for fans,"Adam Kline, Fox Licensing's vice president of media enterprises told Wired in an e-mail.
Multiverse promises the game will not be a re-skin of World of Warcraft or Star Wars: Galaxies, and will feature the unique settings that made Firefly and Serenity so damn culty and loveable.
Look for the yet-untitled game as early as 2008.
