Marvel Executive Vice-President David Maisel announced yesterday that a new developer will be designing the Fantastic Four sequel and should have it in time to coincide with the release of the film, reportedly titled Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Rather than Activision, who has had a near monopoly on Marvel film-to-game tie-ins since the release of X-Men in 2000, Take-Two Interactive will hold the developing reigns for the FF sequel game.
The interesting bit here is Activision who, while holding on to the rights for the X-Men and Spiderman franchises, is letting go the properties that aren’t generating the buzz they had hoped. Before Iron Man and the FF sequel, Activision was the Marvel developer. Is Activision losing faith?
Come to think of it, I thought I saw Activision escorting Wonder Woman to The Palm last Friday.
