TheFeed sure hopes you like you some commercials in your videogames. That’s because if there was any doubt that the era of integrated advertising in the games industry was upon us, the announcement of the heavy in-game product placement appearing in the upcoming Guitar Hero II stands to obliterate that doubt within a vortex of balls-to-the-wall, brand-sponsored rock and roll.
RedOctane has announced the roster of musical instrument businesses that are sponsoring the new game, including Gibson Guitars, whose products were featured in the first Guitar Hero.
In addition to Gibson, the game will feature the branding of the Vans Warped Tour, Randall Amplifiers, and the Zildjian drum cymbal company, whose iconic black logo T-shirt is the attire of choice for Heavy Metal Drummers, who have long been known to rock the T’s sleeveless while wailing on their double-kick drums by the river in the summer.
Guitar Hero II is set for release on November 7 for the PlayStation 2.
