Apple might have learned a lesson from Sony's battery fiasco by realizing that even the smallest of items they manufacture is worth fixing.
Although the tiny Shuffle can only keep anywhere from 512MB to 1GB worth of music and data, Apple wants to make sure that your money still flows into iTunes.
The solution for the Shuffle's inability to play music, sync up with iTunes and/or not be recognized by a Mac or PC is as simple as downloading a new reset utility.
Oh...the minor detail is that all of your music and data on your Shuffle will be erased when you download the utility.
