Damn, Detroit, it’s just not your week.
First, my hometown St. Louis Cardinals at long last broke the storied Curse of Keith Hernandez by defeating your Tigers in the World Series. Then, as if it that weren’t enough, the news comes down today that The Lou done up and edged you out for the title of Most Dangerous City in the U.S.
According to Morgan Quitno Press’s annual rankings of the most dangerous cities in America, violent crime in St. Louis rose 20% to push the Gateway City past Motown into this year’s top spot.
While this ranking isn’t exactly positive news, I can say this: if nothing else, hailing from the Most Dangerous City in the United States has finally gotten me a little respect around this place.
In fact, as we speak, TheFeed leader sjohnson is out getting me coffee, picking up my dry cleaning, and generally treading lightly in my vicinity, acutely aware that I am now certifiably hardcore and not to be f***ed with.
