'X-Play' Top 10 Scariest Games

Today's X-Play featured the Top 10 Scariest Games of All Time. After combing through every terrifying videogame ever released, X-Play compiled the following list of horroriffic games:

10) Alone in the Dark

9) F.E.A.R.

8) Clock Tower

7)  Siren

6) Undying

5) Eternal Darkness

4) Resident Evil 4

3) Fatal Frame 2

2) System Shock 2

and the Scariest Game of All Time?

Silent Hill 2.

Glad Fatal Frame got some love; Eternal Darkness is ranked too high; and where's the original RE? It may have been ugly and cheesy but it was freakin scary.

...otherwise nice list.

I loved the episode. I usuall like the episodes like that. The breakfast club one was great too. Maceman2021 I think they didn't put Gears of War on it becauase it hasn't been released yet.

I played some of Silent Hill 2 (about three hours) and it had nothing on the original for plain unadulterated fear. Sure the first game is dated now, but I have never actually had to stop playing a game and take a fear induced bathroom break before or since (played the original at night, middle of the room with nothing around me, lights off, sound up).

That was a good episode and liked there selection and order. I loved how Kevin was tortured with virtual boy. "Can I atleast get the pinball game....oww it burns!!"

Yeah Silent Hill 2 gave me nightmares, all of them about Pyramid Head. I dunno. RE4 wasn't very scary. I never played Clock Tower. It looks interesting running from "Scissor Man" though. Like Nemisis in RE3.

I THINK SILENT HILL 1 SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE LIST BUT ALSO WHAT ABOUT MANHUNT. MANHUNT IS CREEPY AND DISTURBING IT KEPT ME ON EGDE AND DONT FORGET THE PIG MONSTER, THAT THING REALLY LEFT ME DISTURBED.

Yes, the first Silent Hill should be on there near the top of the list. I've played a lot of horror games (LOVE the genre!) and that's one of the only games that's managed to actually make me jump during some of the cutscenes... and that's saying a LOT!

There's another great game that should be on the list (I'd say in Clock Tower's spot) that most people probably haven't even heard of: a PS1 horror RPG called Koudelka. It has some really creepy monsters in it and some truly frightening cutscenes throughout the game. If you love RPGs and horror games, then this one is a must-have for your game collection!

Hah silent hill fans rejoice. i agree with number 1 cause it was the best silent hill of all time. graphic wise kinda bad but story and pure horror made it a very good play. But i think RE4 shouldn't get one. its a great game but the resident evil franchice never scared me... well except for the remake and zero on the gamecube.

Yeah man, Doom 3 should at least be in the top 10. Fire up the PC or Xbox, turn off the lights, and crank up the surround sound... that shit is creepy.

Great list. One game I was hoping to see though was D on the Sega Saturn. That game was absolutely the scariest game I've ever played.

I have Silent Hill 2..I never thought it was that scary, maybe 3 or 4 but not 2.Part 3 gave me nightmares....

System Shock was so scary to me I could only play it for small periods and I had to quit to give me heart a chance to slow down. Good job on it's rating.

I agree that Silent Hill 2 was really scary, but where is any other resident evil's. Number 2 was pretty scary.

YEAH Silent Hill 2 rules. I begged my dad into buying it for me since im only 12 years old and he did. BEST GAME EVER MADE all silent hill fans I know like this installment the best. oh the sweet satasfiying feeling of beating the crap outta monsters with a stick with a devastitating 2 nails in it :)

ps. G4 rules they are like the only site that lets you actually tell them your real age and sighn up to become a member :P

YEAH DEAD RISING DAMNIT!! I mean you could have at least given them an honerable mention or somthing it was one of the best games Ive EVER played possibly the best. you could beat the game any way you wanted how many games do that.lest you forget the variety of weaponry cornobling!!!(look it up on google)

whatever happened 2 resident evil 1 remake.that was frickin scary as hell. i mean lisa travor and crimson heads come on. it should have been second.silent hill 2 is disturbing,creepy and discusting .it is definetly number 1.
Also gears of war is not scary!!
Nor is dead rising so whoever wrote those comment .....
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!
