Plasmas, LCDs, SEDs a little too confusing for you? Well, get ready to add one more to the mix, Laser TVs!
No, not like the laser guns we all wished we had when we were kids...I know I am just as disappointed as you.
These TVs are the real deal in powering up your home theater! They don't even require the same amount of power that you are currently using, approximately a quarter to be exact. Take that, plasmas!
Mitsubishi previously announced their foray into the world of mixing lasers with projection TVs earlier this year, but now a company out of Australia called Arasor has manufactured the optoelectronic chip central that is used by the device that projects the laser.
Ok, so what does this mean to you, right? First off, a brighter and more colorful picture on a scale that pushes past the current specs and gives you almost 30-35% more lifelike representation on the screen. Second, the Laser TV does not require as much power, which means the casing will be smaller and gives you more screen with less weight and depth of the unit.
Of course, all of this will probably mean that the pricing will be astronomical, so don't start counting your chickens before they've hatched on this one.
