Want an idea of how excited people are for the release of the PlayStation 3? How about this: Rabid fans are camping out for the chance to pre-order the system.
G4's Cheat's own Jeremy "Po1ar" Hoffmann spent all last night on a street-corner in L.A.-- business as usual for Hoff--but this time he was waiting for EB Games in Culver City to open so he could get his mitts on a PS3 on launch day.
According to Hoffmann, there were at least 20 people waiting through the night, eating snacks and playing DSs with each other, waiting to get on that all-important list.
The retailer is taking $100 deposits for the system, but this money doesn't guarantee a system on the launch date, November 17th.
"Most stores will receive a preorder allocation of eight units, while a few select stores will receive 16," a GameStop official told GameSpot.com. "In either case, employee purchases will be restricted to a total of no more than two systems per store."
Sure... only two systems will be bought by employees. That sounds like it'll happen...

Jeremy "Po1ar" Hoffmann is happy just to be in line as the evening begins.
All these fellas waiting for the PlayStation 3 are playing Nintendo DSs. Not a PSP in sight.
This guy brought a tent. As if a game geek has ever been to "nature."
As the night wore on, these nearby beds from a mattress store mocked the gamers' lack of sleep, but the PS3 is not for the weak.
Dawn is breaking as tired nerds stir from their nerd-slumber. Soon, EB Games will be open!
"Hey, Red Hat Guy, What level is your paladin?"
As the hour grows nigh, the gamers must stand. And wait.
Here, Jeremy Hoffman exchanges his hard-earned money for a slip of paper promising the right to buy a PlayStation 3.
This man will likely recieve a PS3 on launch day. You, not so much.
