Please don't let this be the wave-of-the-future: Starting this Sunday, people unlucky enough to live in New Jersey* are going to have the burden of tax on their online music downloads added to the crushing horror of the rest of their worthless lives.
Here's a list of all the new New Jersey taxes:
- Downloaded music and video
- Shipping and handling charges
- Flooring and carpeting installation
- Storage space
- Tanning, massage and tattooing
- Data processing
- Limousines
- Health, shopping and other club membership fees
- Parking garages and lots
- Non-clothing cleaning services
- Landscaping
- Magazines and periodicals
- Investigation and security services, such as security alarms and armored cars
(*I'm from New Jersey, and I can say with complete authority that it is the worst state in the union. Except Iowa.)
