Controversial (and awesome) videogame publisher Rockstar is releasing a new kind of game: They're trading the urban-nightmare crime spree-based titles like Grand Theft Auto and Manhunt for the more nuanced evil of noire.

Set in 1940s Los Angeles, L.A. Noire is said to blend action, cinematic storytelling, and problem-solving against a backdrop of WWII-era urban America full of corruption, moral equivocation and narcotics.

And fedoras. I'm guessing there's going to be fedoras.

No release date or platforms were announced, other than that the title would be for "next-gen" consoles.
